US online gambling still not sure even with DoJ ruling

Even if the Department of Justice has made it easier for online gambling to be legalized in the US, it is not yet the time for poker players to start preparing for legal online gambling.

Those who are expecting for a huge explosion of online casinos should hold their horses at the moment as there are still obstacles in their paths.

This is the opinion of legal experts following the announcement made by the DoJ on the 23rd of December.

The Department of Justice has changed its opinion that the Wire Act of 1961 prohibits online lottery sales and along with it, other forms of online gambling activities except for sport betting.

Many US states could make their own intrastate virtual casinos and poker rooms, creating a substantial gambling revenue stream for their fragile economy.

Gambling looks like a secure and rapid fix for avoiding a deficit close to $85 billion in 2012.

The payoff from online gambling will not be an automatic one however.
